Beautiful Ardennes, Belgium
This is a fantastic route that takes about 1.5 hours, great for getting up to or back from Snowdonia. The first section to Bala is pretty well known, fast sweeping bends with beautiful scenery, always be on your guard for the police, it is one of there favorite roads too & patrol it often but we didn't see any this time!
The second part of the road is tighter, twistier & has some very beautiful scenery but also some scary corners. It is a mountain pass, watch for tight hairpins, big drops & sheep!!
It's brilliant though. Enjoy!
Just something I thought others may like
This road from/to Aberystwyth is just beautiful and the run up through Bala into snowdonia is just wonderful
Ride it all or ride parts of it it's I'll blow your mind
This is my favourite route from my home in Oxfordshire to my hometown of Millford Haven using some of the best biking roads in mid Wales.
Nice alternative way to go to Tenby with a mixture of tight and faster flowing roads ,stop of in Narberth for a coffee , from there head for Tenby (or you could head for Haverfordwest , st David's )
Local to me but why bother going further afar when such good rides on your doorstep for a decent few hours ride.
A ride of 2 halves. The first 10 miles to Aberdovey has flick/flack corners and is fun. The views over the Dovey estuary are spectacular but you won't have time to look at them as this section requires 100% concentration. Stop in Aberdovey for coffee & icecream. The next section takes in the coast road to Barmouth. It's a mini Pacific Coast Highway. If you want to admire the views pull in and stop. Again this needs 100% concentration. Beaches fish & chips in Barmouth are the best in Wales.
newtown to builth wells best road in the country.
Easy Sunday route taking in the scenery and tasting a little of what south / mid Wales has to offer. Coming over the Black Mountains is a real joy and then a little bit subdued when coming from Brynamman to Pontardawe.
Spectacular scenery, and the highlight of the ride was coming up over a crest and coming face to face with a hovering Red Kite, time stood still for a moment. Fantastic road, ride, scenery, weather (in May 2011) FJ1200, full luggage, pillion, brilliant day out.
Some nice and quite tight corners on this rural road, beware that visibility is not that great but the welsh rural scenery is very nice
A nice variety of straights, corners, ups and downs and lovely welsh coastline. Near the beach especially is very popular with tourists so tourists time present their own hazards, lovely views anyway in that case!
Pleasant short rural section with good surface. Soem blind junctions to be aware of, otherwise nice.
A nice flowing, mostly well surfaced rural welsh road. The occasional blind junction but otherwise nice. Can be a little busy in the peak months but still good fun.
This route is quiet slow as it is mainly back roads, so not for those looking for a fast road. But what you lose in speed it makes up for in winding back roads as it makes its way through the cwm gwaum valley and then up the mountain to to reveal stunning views.
This is a nice route to take if you are look to both small b roads with nice scenery and some faster a roads roads there are lovely views of the presli mountains between Crymych and Fishguard and then coastal roads to St Davids this is not a fast route but is well worth a go.
Coastal B roads full of twisty and tight corners. Watch out for the traffic during weekends. Spectacular views too.
I just love this road. Very challenging and quite dangerous in places but very good fun and is fast becoming a regular of mine. Leave the town of Brecon and follow the signs for Upper Chapel. Lots of twists and turns with some tightening radius corners to keep you focused. A few crests and blind corners, some contaminated surfaces and kamikaze sheep on the open top section. Well worth riding in both directions. Love it.
Awesome road over the mountain - watch out for the Welsh ARmy training if the red flag is out
A really good alternative to the sometimes heavily policed A483. Start at Newtown on the A483 to take in the twisties then do a left onto the B4355 at Dolfor ( blink & youll miss it !). Nice view a few miles in at the top of Moel Wilym. High hedgerows limit visibility towards the end of the stretch but still a great road.
From Knighton take the A488 to Pennybont near to Crossgates for a brew & scoff at the cafe nxt to the garage. No 3 figure speeds needed to enjoy this road.
