NM24 : Weed - Dunken

State Hwy 24 in New Mexico is not to be missed. I stumbled upon this on my GPS screen and decided to check it out. The eastern half is country roads through high desert landscape, and the western half (closer to Cloudcroft) is forest and curvy mountain road. Super fun for any type of bike, and gorgeous scenery. A+

Buffalo Pass : Chinle - Red Valley

Great road passing through the Shiprock formation up close, up and over a very nice typically twisty Buffalo pass, and along the Canyon de Chelly with its great overlooks of the cliff dwellings. Paved all the way!

Roswell - Capitan - Ruidoso

The section between Roswell and Capitan is about 78 miles starting in the high desert with a distant view of the Capitan Mountains and ending in the mountains at Capitan. Not only no police but almost no traffic. Very pleasant ride with some good curves and then a nice ride in the mountains from Capitan to Ruidoso.

CO17 : Antonito - Horca - Chama (NM) ( La Manga / Cumbres Pass )

Lots of nice curves, decent asphalt, open views and not much traffic. A very nice ride.

Apache Creek to Grants

This route borders on the exceptional and consists of NM State Highways 32, 36 and 117. From Apache Creek to Quemado the road climbs at a good clip with lots of nice twisties and sweepers. It flattens out at the top but there are enough sweepers to keep you focused - really sweet at 80mph. The vistas and rock formations are amazing. But perhaps the most "exceptional" thing about this route is how desolate it is out there. I passed one pickup from AC to Quemado and no vehicles from Quemado to Grants!! Coming the other way I saw maybe 5 cars/pickups over the entire distance - it's a very cool way to go if your traveling anywhere between, say, Silver City area and Taos!!

El Morro Run

Hot in the summer. Scenery is great if you like ancient volcanic activity. Expect to take the whole day to ride this.

104 : Tucumcari - Las Vegas

This is a nice diversion to get off the interstate. The best part of this is that it's 110 miles of rugged desolate country and you're going to feel the isolation. With only a handful of people to be seen along the way, I don't recall there being any services to speak of so make sure you get gas.

Co. Rd 532 : Alto

Only dualsports and supermotos will like this potholed gravelly run, but I really liked it!
