Barrowford to Gisburn section now has average speed cameras. Still a good road though.

I too live on this road, just in Barrowford. There´s an ambulance passes my house most evenings during the summer.

I took this road home tonight, Friday 4pm, and i'm really pleased I did. Not too busy, great corners and good road surface but be warned, the farmers round here and Bowland like to drop muck over long stretches when you least expect it.

This is really nice road, but take care this road is reported as being one of the most dangerous in the UK. My normal route Is from the Rossendale Valley through Barrowford A682 to Gisburn, then on to Long Preston A682, right at the T junction onto the A65 to Skipton, then right again on the A59, staying on the A59 back to Gisburn. Stay on the A59 to Clitheroe, then Whalley, then A671 to Padiham and back into Rossendale. Lots of bikes out at all times, can be very busy with cars and wagons

I live on this road so ride it often {i have to} - it is excellent road with many variations - these unfourtunatley catch people (cars & bikes) out giving it a bad reputation. It is also a sunday sportsbike favourite but the standard of some riders (only the bad ones get noticed) mixed with locals (tractors / cows / cars) plus tourist traffic going to/from Lake District makes the local police attentive when the sun is out. Evenings / Week days less traffic = more fun. Also worth turning off anywhere you fancy if you like tricky b-roads and are not too worried what time you get home.

This is one hell of a road but be carefull, casualty rates are high, danger is everywhere, best times are weekdays after 7pm and weekends before 9am. Tight twists, awesome straights but take care this road is one of the most dangerous in the UK
