Incorporated this route into my run from Trossachs to Pitlochry after viewing it on this site and seen the good rating. I have to say it was a pointless detour, with very little scenery and a slow narrow road with lots of slow blind bends. The river view was obscured by thick forestry and it didnt help that it was on a cold winters day and started snowing. I just wanted off it as quick as possible and it seemed to drag on forever. I would rate it 1/5 at best.

Cross over the Bridge of Balgie, turn right and immediately stop at the country Post Office for one of the best bowls of soup on the planet before continuing through the finest forested Glen (Lyon) in Scotland towards Fontingall. Fontingall is home to some beautiful thatched cottages (by McLaren) a fine wee Kirk and the Yew = the oldest living thing in Europe at about 5000 years old. In the field across the road, there is small monument that defines the burial grounds of some 200 persons having died during the Black Plague. Legend has it that there was only one survivor - a woman, having gone mad as a result of having buried them all. A few miles past Fontingall, at Keltneyburn turn left and you can join the (B846)
